A rail tunnel beneath the English Channel connecting Folkestone in England to Coquelles in France, opened in 1994 after six years of construction. It carries Eurostar passenger trains and shuttle trains for road vehicles, and its 37.9 kilometer undersea section is the longest undersea tunnel section in the world.
