The Douglas Aircraft Company was an American aerospace company founded in 1921 by Donald Wills Douglas Sr. It manufactured the Douglas DC-3, the propeller airliner that had a lasting effect on the airline industry from the 1930s through the Second World War, before merging with McDonnell Aircraft in 1967 to form McDonnell Douglas.
